Home to Southwest Minnesota State football and women's soccer, the Regional Event Center has emerged as the premiere outdoor event facility in southwestern Minnesota. It has served as the home for SMSU football and women's soccer since 2008.
During the 2006 Minnesota State legislative session, SMSU secured $11 million in state funding for the Regional Event Center that will be matched with at least $5 million in private funding. The Schwan Food Company has generously committed to helping raise the private contributions.
The Regional Event Center is a bowl-shaped venue that seats approximately 2,500 people on a mixture of chairback, bench and terraced seating.
There are eight suites that can be used for viewing events and hosting meetings. The suites are available for SMSU and public use. A state-of-the-art press and media area will serve dual purposes for game day and event functions while also being a classroom and lab space for SMSU radio/TV students.
The permanent seating capacity is 2,500, though that can be increased considerably with portable seating options. Seating runs from goal line to goal line. Fans may also sit on the long berm that runs the eastern length of the field.
Ground breaking for the Regional Event Center was in May of 2007, and was completed in the fall of 2008 in time for the SMSU's football game against Minnesota, Crookston on Aug. 30.
Campus Address: 1501 State Street, Marshall, Minnesota 56258.
